PubMed.ai is an AI-powered research assistant designed to enhance biomedical research by providing intelligent, evidence-based insights. It connects each answer to real, peer-reviewed publications indexed in PubMed.
User input is transformed into precise MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) terms for enhanced biomedical literature retrieval. PubMed.ai combines large language models (LLMs) with reasoning to extract, summarize, and interpret relevant literature with unmatched precision.
40M+ Biomedical Papers, 4,000+Journals PubMed.ai is powered by the official PubMed database, maintained by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. It includes over 40 million papers across medicine, biology, public health, and life sciences, with content sourced from more than 4,000 journals. The database is updated daily, ensuring users always access the latest peer-reviewed research.

GUIDELINES
PubMed.ai uses advanced biomedical large language models fine-tuned for scientific research. When you enter a question or keyword, PubMed.ai analyzes millions of PubMed-indexed abstracts to generate evidence-based summaries and key insights, all connected to real peer-reviewed literature.
Using PubMed.ai to search for literature is very easy. Start with simple searches like "cancer" or "diabetes." For more search tips, check out: How to Search.
Add literature type, year, and field with your search:
PROGRESS
PubMed.ai runs custom fine-tuned large language models (LLMs) combined with MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) term transforming across the entire PubMed database, extracting Key Insights from each selected paper. When processing user queries, we remove filler words like “what,” “is,” and “are,” and then use a combination of keyword search and MeSH term matching across titles and abstracts. This approach ensures that search results are based not only on keyword matches but also on deeper semantic relevance.
Search Co-Pilot optimizes your search queries for more precise results, saving you time on literature filtering. Based on the top 20 selected papers, Search Co-Pilot generates an Introduction, Key Insights, and a Conclusion, similar to a brief literature review. Each piece of generated information is fully traceable to the specific research papers. The Key Insights provide detailed information along with live PubMed links, allowing users to jump directly to the referenced papers via numbered citations. All Search Co-Pilot outputs can be easily copied with one click, streamlining your research process.
When a user inputs a question-type search query, the Result Summary answers the query by combining insights from the top 20 selected papers, ensuring the response is based on the most relevant and recent literature.
Using PubMed.ai, you can access the most comprehensive set of literature. By default, the list is sorted by the most recent publication date. However, you can refine the literature results by specifying the publication year, article type, or research field in your query.
You can think of Deep Chat as a personalized AI chatbot available with every query. The top 20 most relevant papers from your search results are fed into Deep Chat's backend, where it stores all the information about these papers and provides several example questions. You can directly converse with it, asking about specific content in the literature or other questions related to your query. (If you choose to ask entirely new questions, Deep Chat may not always find relevant answers within the 20 papers, as it relies on the content available in those specific documents.)
